Rates and Charges

General Rates
Incorporated in Council's rating strategies in the 2017-2018 budget are differential general rates.

Differential general rates are levied as a rate per dollar of the unimproved capital valuation (UCV) of property. Minimum rate provisions apply.

The unimproved capital valuation is issued by the Department of Natural Resource Management. For further information about your valuation click here

When are my Rates Due?
A rate notice is issued each six months in the Whitsunday region, in approximately August and February.

Rates are due and payable thirty (30) days after the date of issue of your notice. The due date will be detailed on the rate notice.

A discount of 5% is available on the current rates on full settlement of all rates and charges (including any arrears and interest) if received within thirty (30) days from the date of issue of the rate notice. For the discount to apply, Council must receive your payment by the close of business of 5pm on the due day. If payment is to be made through any of Council's agencies (Australia Post, telephone, internet or Bpay) please allow 24 hours for the transfer of funds to Council.

Please note that discount does not apply to the Emergency Management Fire and Rescue Services Levy, water consumption accounts.
