Littering and illegal dumping is a major concern within the Whitsunday region, costing our community thousands of dollars every year.
Whitsunday Regional Council is continually urging residents to do the right thing when it comes to the dumping of waste. It is incomprehensible that people would illegally dump rubbish here, as you would think residents would take pride in the beautiful environment in which we live.
Fines can range from $455 on-the-spot fines to $113,850 depending upon the volume and severity.
Council cannot investigate cases of illegal dumping without it being reported, so anyone with information relating to illegal dumping, including offence details, is urged to contact Council on (07) 4945 0200.
Residents are reminded that domestic waste less than 2 cubic metres can be disposed of free of charge at Council’s waste facilities located at Kelsey Creek, Cannonvale, Bowen and Collinsville.
