Today, Whitsunday Regional Council resolved to release an Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the utilisation of Council owned and established radio equipment used to broadcast free to air radio in Collinsville.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said Council is seeking to ascertain if there are any radio stations who areinterested in delivering their services for the Collinsville community using Council ownedinfrastructure.
“The community is currently provided with two radio stations to the town of Collinsville, whichprovide a much needed community service,” Mayor Whitney said.
“Council has in the past assisted Rebel FM by making available infrastructure to broadcast theradio station.
“Council has been made aware that the broadcasters of Rebel FM wish to extend the offerings to the Community and we would encourage that.
“However, if Council is to invest further in infrastructure to support radio transmission intoCollinsville, all interested providers must be allowed an opportunity to do so.
“The current arrangements are at a significant financial impost to Council, and are only madeavailable to Rebel FM exclusively.
“That is why we are releasing this EOI to see if there is a radio station which can provide theservice for the Collinsville community to make sure Council’s investments provide value to thecommunity.
“Council is still committed to making available and maintaining the current infrastructure to RebelFM to maintain current services.” she said.
Companies interested in providing a tender for these works are requested to register on the LGTenderbox - www.lgtenderbox.com.au
When the EOI is released, the documents will be available to be downloaded through the Council’s LG Tenderbox.
