If you would like to recognise the great work an organisation or individual demonstrates to foster atruly inclusive community this is your opportunity.
The Inclusive Community Champions (ICC) Awards is calling for nominations to recognise andcelebrate the venues, facilities, organisations and individuals that encourage and support acommunity that can be accessed, enjoyed and participated in by everyone.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said this was a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the great work ofcommunity members that excel in proving excellent service delivery for an inclusive community.
“Historically the populations that experience the greatest difficulty accessing venues and services included people with a medical condition, disability, aged over sixty, those that have a temporary injury, and parents with prams,” she said.
“Government, business and organisations are encouraged to self-nominate for the Awards.”
Nominations can be made in six categories:?Best sporting facilityBest local business/community service providerBest government department or agencyBest recreation/leisure/entertainment venue or precinctBest tourism or accommodation providerBest individual
Nominations close on 12 September 2014. The winners will be recognised at a local presentation in October, and an announcement of the State Champion will be made during Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week (9-15 November 2014).
