This week, Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Jenny Whitney drew the winners of the CruiseWhitsundays competition and the children’s colouring competition, held at the WhitsundayRegional Libraries as part of Book Week, which ran from 16 - 22 August.
“Thanks to local sponsor Cruise Whitsundays, children who visited any of the Whitsunday Regional Libraries during Book week had a chance to win one of four fabulous prizes,” she said.
“First prize was a Great Barrier Reef Adventure family cruise for 2 adults and 2 children, and was won by 2 year old Payten Connolly from Cannonvale Library.
“Three runner up prizes of return family transfers to Daydream Island for 2 adults and 2 childrenwere won by Marcos del Solar (6 years old) Bowen Library, Matilda Stokes (7 years old)Proserpine Library and Cheyenne O’Loughlin (9 years old) Collinsville Library.
“One lucky child from each library won a prize that their whole family can enjoy. To be eligiblechildren needed to be library members and visit a library during book week,” she said.Mayor Whitney said as part of Book Week Whitsunday Regional Libraries also held a colouring in competition for children 6 years and under.
“The competition was stiff with some very good entries, in the end the winners from each librarywere very deserving of their prize packs of a DVD and book,” she said.
