Whitsunday Regional Council today resolved to provide $3,742 to eight different community groups across the Whitsunday region to support the great work these organisations do in our local community.
Mayor Whitney said Council’s support includes the refunding and waiving of event fees, waiving of hire use and donations to help these organisations provide the diverse range of communityservices, festivals and events across our region.
The support from Council includes:
• Waiving the $523 hire fees for the Collinsville Community Centre for the CollinsvilleDevelopment and industry Group meeting being held on 7th October 2014.• Donation of $500 to St Catherine’s Catholic College in support of their participation in theOpti-minds State Championships to be held in Brisbane on 11 & 12 October 2014.• Refunding the event fee of $360 paid by Club Outrigger Whitsunday Inc. in support of therecent “Come & Try Day” held on the 14 September 2014.• Waiving the major event application fee $874 in support of the Tourism Bowen Inc. to hostthe Gem of the Coral Coast Festival 2014 from 31 October – 2 November 2014.• Donate the minor event application fee of $360 in support of the “Out of the Shadows andinto the Light Walk” hosted by Whitsunday Community Services Inc. on Saturday 6September 2014.• Waiving the minor event application fee of $375 to support the Community Friends to hostthe Beyond Blue roadshow’s Whitsunday Regional visit on the 25 September 2014.• Waiving the minor event application fee of $375 to assist the “Bowen Churches Together”in celebration of Transformation on 18 October 2014.• Waiving the minor event application fee of $375 to support the Gem of the Coral Coast
Festival entrant in support of the Family Fun Run – Walk fund raiser on the 12 October2014.
By providing this funding the Whitsunday Regional Council is promoting the development of artsand cultural projects, activities and festivities in the Whitsunday region.
