Whitsunday Regional Councillors have today proudly displayed photos of their families to support National Families Week which is held between 15 and 21 May 2015.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said that the theme of ‘Stronger Families, Stronger Communities’ highlights the important role families and family wellbeing plays as the building block of our communities.
“Families play a vital role in nurturing and teaching our children, supporting members of our families who are vulnerable and being there for each other on a daily basis,” Mayor Whitney said.
“During this week we encourage you to celebrate with your family and enjoy family activities in the Whitsunday community, “she said.
National Families Week coincides with the United Nations International Day of Families held on 15 May 2015. This day is observed by the United Nations to mark the importance that the international community places on families as the most fundamental units of society, as well as to show concern about their situation in many parts of the world.
