Whitsunday Regional Council hosted nine Year 12 work experience students from St CatherinesCatholic High School last week.
During the week the students had the opportunity to join Council teams in Water & Waste Water,Corporate Services and Planning & Community.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said that the students were ‘working’ at Council from Tuesday 1st September through to Friday 4th September.
“Whitsunday Regional Council offered these young adults the chance to experience a dynamic and varied work environment, across a wide range of disciplines,
“The students were placed in our local library, at our waste and water laboratory, our engineering workshops, our IT department, Corporate Services and with our Local Laws Officers,” Mayor Whitney said.
“The rewards and benefits of work experience are real. Students are given a chance to observeand learn within the context of a real work environment, to reflect on their skills and develop onthese,"
“I am sure that these students from St Catherines will find that this experience will be one that they remember always,” Mayor Whitney said.
