Whitsunday Regional Council’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Scott Waters has announced his resignation, effective from Wednesday, 20 April 2016, after close to four years in the role.
Mr Waters, who was appointed CEO in November 2012, said he was grateful for the opportunities and challenges the role had provided and thanked Council’s elected members and staff for their support.
“It has been an absolute honour and privilege to have served Whitsunday Regional Council, first as General Manager of Whitsunday Coast Airport and then as Council’s CEO and more recently heading up our newly formed Airport and Infrastructure Corporation,” Mr Waters said.
“I have been blown away by the professionalism demonstrated by our elected members and staff during this period, and I am truly grateful for their hard work and commitment to delivering for our community,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family and pursuing other career opportunities.”
Mayor Andrew Willcox thanked Mr Waters for his service to Council and wished him well in his future endeavours.
“Scott has made a sound contribution to the Whitsunday community as Council’s CEO over the past few years, and I acknowledge his efforts, particularly his commitment to driving the continued growth of the Whitsunday Coast Airport,” Cr Willcox said.
“On behalf of Council’s elected members and staff, I wish Scott and Kim and their young family the very best for the future,” he said.
Acting CEO Barry Omundson will continue in his role until a permanent CEO is appointed.
