Whitsunday Regional Council has today resolved to award over $70,000 in Community Assistance Grants to 12 community and sporting clubs across the region.
Mayor Andrew Willcox said Council was proud to assist local community organisations and sporting clubs with running costs, general maintenance and special projects and programmes.
“I’m proud to lead a Council that is actively supporting initiatives which are directly benefitting our community, whether it’s helping the Proserpine Golf Club seal the clubhouse carpark or the Whitsunday Equestrian Group to purchase new portable yard panels,” Cr Willcox said.
“Local volunteers invest considerable time, effort and money into making our community organisations and sporting clubs a success, and Council is pleased to be able to lend a helping hand and provide those organisations and clubs with financial assistance through our Community Assistance Grants Scheme,” he said.
The following Community Assistance Grants have been approved by Council:
• Collinsville Bowling Club - $1,000.00• Whitsunday Equestrian Group - $9,920.79• Bowen Rugby Union Club - $3,000.00• QCWA Collinsville Branch - $5,850.00• Proserpine Taipans Junior Soccer Club - $3,000.00• Whitsunday Kyokushin Karate - $1,500.00• Cannon Valley Pony Club - $1,000.00• Bowen & District Motor Enthusiasts - $1,500.00• Proserpine Golf Club - $20,000.00• Cannon Valley Pony Club - $20,000.00• Proserpine Veterans Golders Association - $1,500.00• Gloucester Sports & Recreation Association - $3,000.00
