Whitsunday Regional Council is holding community forums at the start of April to help inform theCouncil’s corporate vision for the next five years.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said the forums are part of the extensive community consultation Council is undertaking throughout the development of Whitsunday Regional Council 2020, a five yearcorporate vision spanning from 2014-2019.
“Four community forums will be held, one in each of the major townships, to discuss what theCouncil’s priorities should be over the next five years in service delivery, economic development, infrastructure, community and environment,” she said.
“Interested members of the community are urged to get involved and register for the forums on the Council website.
“Council has already conducted an online survey asking the community to identify what youbelieve the important issues are for Whitsunday Regional Council and Council is also currentlyundertaking a phone survey to gain further community input.
“The community forums are a way of expanding on ideas and issues already raised by community members through the online and phone surveys.
“This is a significant step towards Council adopting a more consultative approach when developing major governance projects which drive the direction of Council,” she said.
