The Whitsunday region is an iconic place to get married and is an exciting location for conferences or business, entertainment, sporting or charity events - we can cater for it all!
Whitsunday Regional Council takes great pride in maintaining the public parks and gardens around the region for everyone to enjoy.
Weddings are popular in the Whitsundays and there has been an increasing number of couples choosing to hold their special day in these beautiful landscapes.
Bowen, Proserpine and Airlie Beach have some of the most spectacular locations for your wedding.
In the Airlie Beach region, Shingley Beach is one of the most popular settings having beautifully manicured lawns and a gorgeous view over the Abell Point Marina.
Our hard working Parks and Gardens team work tirelessly to maintain all the beaches, parks and reserves in spectacular condition. Most areas have access to amenities blocks close by and power can be accessed by prior arrangement at most sites.
The region also caters for exhibitions, conferences, gala dinners, sporting events and festivals. We have what it takes to make your event a success.
All events considered a Class 1 (>1000) or 2 (200-1000) Major Event need to have submitted an application (3) three months prior to the event date and Class 3 Minor Event (<200), Class 4 Event (Wedding with <200) or Class 5 Event (Family gatherings with temporary removable infrastructure with <50) need to submit an application (1) one month prior to the event date.
It is important that Council receives this notice to avoid double booking, to ensure that the area is not scheduled for garden work or sand maintenance at the time and to make sure that the sprinklers don't come on during your ceremony/event.
There is an application fee for all weddings and events and a refundable bond is applicable. Fees can be accessed from our fees and charges.
Please note that both the Indemnity form and the Statutory Declaration are required to be completed as part of your application.
Should you require any further information regarding events or weddings, please contact Council's Community Development Services on 1300 WRC QLD (1300 972 753).
